Cracking in the heels is a general problem to many people due to several reasons. The various reasons behind the cracked heels are improper hygiene care, use of wrong shoes and socks, lack of moisturizer, improper foot care, dry air and unhealthy diet. Treating the problems with right remedies and proper care will help you to get rid of cracked heels problem.
Vegetable oil
Various number of vegetable oils can be used to treat your cracked heels including Olive oil, coconut oil, sesame oil and hydrogenated vegetable oil. To grab the best results, apply any of the oils above to your foot before going to sleep, so that oil will penetrate deep into the skin and it will provide you smoothness when it is applied in a regular manner.
First start the oil massage by cleaning your foot thoroughly with pumice stone and then apply the vegetable oil to heels and soles. Wear clean and washed socks and leave them for entire night. This practice in a daily routine reduces the heel cracks.
Rice flour
Exfoliating the skin helps to remove out the dead and flaky particles formed over the body. Use rice flour to exfoliate your heels and to get rid of the cracking problem.
To prepare your home made feet exfoliator, you just need three ingredients that are handy in the home. They are Rice flour, honey and apple cider vinegar. Mix three table spoons of rice flour with one table spoon of honey and one table spoon of apple cider vinegar. Mix them well to form a thick paste. If you are having extreme cracking on your heels,then a table spoon of olive or almond oil.
First soak your foot in the warm water for five to ten minutes and then massage the scrub over the foot gently.
Neem
Neem also known as margo leaves is having anti-fungal properties that are necessary to treat cracked heels. The mixture prepared with the neem leaves is a traditional method to treat your heel problems.
Take a handful of neem leaves and make them paste. Add a table spoon of turmeric powder in it and mix it thoroughly. Apply the paste over the cracked heels and handle it for half an hour. Wash your feet with warm water and pat with a clean and soft cloth. The anti-bacterial properties of turmeric and anti-fungal properties of neem kills the bacteria present on the skin and helps to secure crack less heels.
Lemon
Use lemon to dull the rough skin, which is the main reason for cracked heels. The astringent properties of lemon works against the rough skin and provide you better results.
Take a lemon and make into two half’s, squeeze a half part in to warm water and soak your legs up to 10 minutes. Don’t go for very hot water, which worsts the condition of rough foot. After soaking, wash your foot with the pumice stone and soap and then clean with a smooth towel.
Alternatively you can directly apply the lemon juice over the foot and rinse off with pumice stone and soap.
